Noah and the Ark
A long time ago, the world was filled with people, but most of them had stopped listening to God. They were mean, selfish, and did many wrong things. God was very sad to see how the world had become, but there was one man who loved and obeyed God. His name was Noah.
Noah was different. He tried his best to do what was right and listened to God. Because of this, God had a special plan for Noah and his family.
God’s Big Plan
God told Noah, “I’m going to send a big flood to cover the earth. But I want to save you, your family, and all the animals. Build a big boat, called an ark, so everyone can be safe.”
God gave Noah very specific instructions for how to build the ark. It had to be huge, with three levels and a roof, and made out of strong wood. Noah trusted God and got to work.
Noah Builds the Ark
Noah and his family worked hard to build the ark. People around them thought Noah was crazy.
They laughed and said, “Why are you building such a big boat? There’s no flood!”
But Noah kept building. He trusted God’s plan, even if no one else did.
Gathering the Animals
When the ark was finished, God told Noah to gather animals to bring onto the ark.
- “Take two of every kind of animal,” God said.
- There were elephants, lions, birds, rabbits, and even tiny insects like ants and bees.
Noah and his family also packed food for themselves and the animals. Then they all went inside the ark, and God shut the door to keep them safe.
The Big Flood
Soon, the rain began to fall. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights, and the whole earth was covered in water—even the tallest mountains!
But inside the ark, Noah, his family, and the animals were safe. The ark floated on the water, and God took care of them.
The Rain Stops
After 40 days, the rain stopped, but the earth was still covered with water. Noah waited and waited. Finally, he sent out a raven and then a dove to see if the water had dried up. The dove came back with an olive leaf, which meant the water was going down.
Eventually, the ark came to rest on top of a mountain.
A New Beginning
When the earth was dry again, God told Noah, “Come out of the ark.” Noah, his family, and all the animals stepped out onto dry land.
Noah built an altar to thank God for keeping them safe. God was pleased and made a promise to Noah and the world:
“I will never again send a flood to destroy the earth.”
To remind everyone of this promise, God placed a beautiful rainbow in the sky.
Lesson
Noah’s story teaches us to trust and obey God, even when others don’t understand. God always keeps His promises, and the rainbow reminds us of His love and care for the whole world.
