LDS Scriptures provides an easy backup and restore option using syncing, it's all automatic! All you need is an account. When you are connected to an Internet connection, your markings are automatically synced to our syncing server. If you are offline, your markings wait until you are connected online again to sync.
Create Account
iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android: Go to More > Settings > Account Settings, and tap the "Create Account" button, then enter your email address and password. To keep up with the latest news and updates about your Scriptures app, keep the Email Updates to the ON position. You can always change your settings later by logging in at LDSScriptures.com. Tap Create Account to continue. This account can be used on other devices available from LDSScriptures.com, just sign in with the same email and password and you can sync with the other devices.
Desktop: Select Add Account from the bottom left and then tap the "Create Account" button. Fill out the fields with your information. If this is the first account you have created in the app, this will send all of your bookmarks, notes, highlights, tags, and history to our server in case you ever need to restore your data to your device. If you have already created an account on the app, your new account will clear out any existing markings from the last account and start fresh.
Sign in with existing account
iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android: If you already have an LDSScriptures.com account you can sign in and have all of your previous markings and notes downloaded to your device. Just go to More > Settings > Account Settings and enter your email and password and tap "Save".

Several options are available to modify the font size, style, to enable night mode (invert colors), and enable landscape capabilities. From any chapter, double tap on the screen (where there is text and no links) to open the hidden toolbar. From here you can change font size and switch between Day and Night mode. For additional settings, go to More > Settings.
The bottom bar of the app is called the Tab bar. The Library button (left) and More button (right) are fixed, but the three buttons in the middle can be modified to include what you use most.
Editing your Tab bar
Tap on the More tab, then "Edit" (top right). All the icons not on the tab bar currently will appear in the middle area of the screen. With your finger, drag the icon you want in the tab bar to the spot you want it to replace. You can also reorder the existing tabs in the tab bar. When you are finished, tap "Done" (top right) to save your configuration.
My Content lets you add your own content to your device, such as talks, goals, Patriarchal blessings, or any other text you want to carry with you. One of the neat features is that references to scriptures are automatically linked to the verse within the Scriptures app. For example, just by typing Genesis 2, Gen. 2:3, 1 Ne 3:7, or Moroni 10:3-5 these links are automatically linked to the scriptures.
Adding Content
Before you can add content you need to create an LDSScriptures.com account (see Syncing). This account gives you access to the My Content feature at LDSScriptures.com. Log in with the same email and password as your backup account, then click on the "My Content" link at the top.
To add content, type in a title and then either type in your content or paste it from another source. The buttons at the top will let you make text bold, italicized, or underlined, as well as to use various font sizes and colors.
You can import HTML by clicking the HTML button, then pasting HTML code.
After adding content at LDSScriptures.com, open the application on your device or computer and after about 30 seconds the content should appear in the My Content section.
Removing Content
iPhone and iPod Touch: To remove content from the My Content section on your device, swipe from left to right on the title of the content you want to delete. A red "Delete" button will appear, then tap to delete.
Android: To remove content from the My Content section on your device, hold your finger on the title of the content you want to delete, then tap "Delete".
Desktop: To remove content from the My Content section on your device, right click on the title to remove, then click "Remove Text".
Even after deleting the content from your device, the content will still be saved at LDSScriptures.com and can be restored to your device by clicking "restore to device" next to the content title. To permanently delete the content, click on "delete" from LDSScriptures.com.
Updating Content
Content that you create can be edited by clicking "edit" from the My Content section at LDSScriptures.com. Once saved, open the application on your computer or device, and within 30 seconds it should be automatically updated.
Hundreds of titles of resources, manuals, Church magazines, and classical books are available to download from Yanceyware files. We have made it simple to add these resources, and will soon make it possible to add your own Yanceyware books.
Adding Yanceyware Content
Log in to LDSScriptures.com with your account email and password, and then go to Settings > More Content. Scroll down to see the list of titles available, and click on any titles you want to add to your device. We recommend only adding 2 or 3 titles at a time. To download them to your device or computer, open the application and wait about 30 seconds, then it should appear in the My Content section.
Bookmarks make it easy to keep track of where you are reading at, or to quickly get to verses or quotes.
Adding Bookmarks
iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android: Navigate to a verse, for example, Acts 3:19. Tap on the verse number (19 in this example) to open the options view for the verse. Tap "Add Bookmark". By default, the reference is saved as the title of the bookmark, but you can edit the title to be anything you'd like. A good use for this is for bookmarking where you are doing personal scripture study and editing the title to be "Personal Study". Then you can use the "Update Bookmark" option below.
Desktop: Navigate to a verse, for example, Acts 3:19. Click on the verse number (19 in this example) to open the options view for the verse.
Updating Bookmarks
With a bookmark like "Personal Study" (see Adding Bookmarks section above), you can "move" the bookmark along with your reading instead of creating a new Bookmark every time. After you are done reading, you can update the bookmark (move its position) to be where you will read next.
iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android: Go to where you want the bookmark to be moved to, and tap on the verse number to open the options view. Tap "Update Bookmark" and then tap on the bookmark you wish to update, and then tap "Save" at the top right.
Desktop: Go to where you want the bookmark to be moved to, and click on the verse number to open the options view. Tap "Update Bookmark" and then select the bookmark you wish to update, and then click "OK".
Deleting Bookmarks
iPhone, iPod Touch: To delete a bookmark, go to the Bookmarks tab, then swipe from left to right on the bookmark you wish to delete. A red "Delete" button will appear, then tap on the Delete button to delete the bookmark.
Android: To delete a bookmark, go to the Bookmarks tab, then hold your finger on the bookmark you wish to delete for a few seconds. A box will appear, then tap on the Delete button to delete the bookmark.
Desktop: To delete a bookmark, go to the Bookmarks list, then right click on the bookmark you wish to delete and click "Remove Bookmark".
Viewing a Bookmark
iPhone, iPod Touch, and Android: Go to the Bookmarks tab and tap on the title of the bookmark you would like to view.
Desktop: Go to the Bookmarks list and click on the title of the bookmark you would like to view.
Organizing Bookmarks
iPhone and iPod Touch: You can reorder your bookmarks by tapping the "Edit" button at the top right of the Bookmarks tab. Once you tap the Edit button, a small icon to the right of each bookmark will appear. Drag the icon of the bookmark you want to reorder up or down to reorder. When finished reordering your bookmarks, tap "Done" at the top right.
Android: At this time you cannot reorder your bookmarks.
Desktop: At this time you cannot reorder your bookmarks.
Mark verses, phrases, or words of significance or importance to you by highlighting them. After highlighting, the next time you read that verse it will be highlighted so you can pay more attention to it. You can view all your highlights at a glance by going to the Highlights tab.
iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and Android
Highlight a verse, phrase, or word
Navigate to a verse, for example, Acts 3:19. Double tap on the screen once (not on a footnote link or the verse number) to show the toolbar. Tap on "Highlight" on the bottom right. You can select from different colors, then tap the first word to start highlighting and then the last word to highlight. When finished, tap the green button with the check mark on it.
Removing a Highlight
Just like highlighting a verse (see above) you can remove a highlight by selecting the eraser (iPhone/iPod/iPad) or the X option (Android/Desktop) instead of one of the other colors.
Viewing All Highlights
Go to the Highlights tab (More > Highlights) to view all highlighted verses. By default the title of the highlight uses the reference to the verse or paragraph.
For iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad you can also highlight by tapping and holding a word, then moving the selection handles to include all the text you wish to highlight.
Desktop
Highlight a verse, phrase, or word
Navigate to a verse, for example, Acts 3:19. With your mouse, highlight the text on the screen that you would like to highlight. At the bottom of the window is a "Highlight" icon with a colored background. To highlight the text that color, just click on the icon. If you want to switch colors, click and hold on the icon until a color selector window opens. Click on the color desired to highlight the text you have selected.
Removing a Highlight
Follow the same directions as above for highlighting but choose the "Erase" option in the color selector window.
Viewing All Highlights
Go to the Highlights tab to view all highlighted verses. By default the title of the highlight uses the reference to the verse or paragraph.
Adding a note is a great way to record your thoughts or insights on a verse. When you add a note, a red line on the left of the verse makes you aware that a note exists for that verse.
Adding a Note
Navigate to a verse, for example, Acts 3:19. Tap on the verse number (19 in this example) to open the options view for the verse. Tap the Notes button and then tap on the middle text box to start writing your note. When finished tap Save in the top right. You can edit the title if you want by tapping on the default title, or just tap Save in the top right again to save the note and return to the verse.
You can create a link in your note to another scripture simply by typing the reference, such as "1 Nephi 17:3" or "D&C 58:42-43". When the note appears in-line you can tap on the reference and go directly to that scripture. This is great for creating scripture chains.
Viewing and Editing a Note
iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and Android - A note will show in-line (you can turn this off in Settings) above a verse. Tap the verse number and then Notes from the options to edit the note.
Desktop - A note will show in-line (you can turn this off in Settings) above a verse. Tap the verse number and then Notes from the options to edit the note.
Deleting a Note
Go to the Notes tab (More > Notes) and swipe from left to right on the note you want to delete, then tap the red Delete button that appears. You can also tap Edit (top right) and then tap the red circle icon to show the Delete button.
Tags are a new way to organize your favorite scriptures on a topic. Instead of highlighting verses with different colors representing different topics, you can now label verses with a Tag, and then view all scriptures that match that Tag. Tags are also a substitute for Bookmark folders, where the Tag is the folder.
Tagging a Verse
Navigate to a verse, for example, Acts 3:19. Tap on the verse number (19 in this example) to open the options view for the verse. Tap "Tags" and then tap the Tag or multiple Tags you want to mark for the verse.
Adding a Tag
While you are tagging a verse (see above), you can also add a new tag. Tap the "New Tag" button at the top and then type the title of the Tag, then Save (top right). You will see the new Tag in the list checked. Then tap Done (top left).
Deleting a Tag
Go to the Tags tab (More > Tags) and swipe from left to right on the Tag you want to delete, then tap the red Delete button that appears. You can also tap Edit (top right) and then tap the red circle icon to show the Delete button. This will delete the Tags of any verses tagged with the Tag you are deleting.
Take your scripture study to a new level by sharing your markings with family and friends! We call it "Social Scripture Study", and it makes sharing your notes, bookmarks, highlighting, and tags easy to share with others. If you choose to share your scripture study, you and others can view it at ShareScriptures.com.
Start Sharing
After creating an account from the Settings view (More > Settings > Account Settings), log in to LDSScriptures.com and go to Settings. Set your account access to either Public or Private. A Public account is viewable by anyone, and any other user can follow your updates on ShareScriptures.com. A Private account requires approval for any new follower, so updates are only viewable by approved followers.
Follow Others
Learn from others' thoughts and markings by following other users on ShareScriptures.com. Use the Find People page to find other users you know or to discover others that you may find interesting to follow, then click on the Follow link for that user. Updates for all users you follow are found on the ShareScriptures.com/home page.
Commenting
You can comment on any Notes from other users if you have an account at ShareScriptures.com. This makes it easy to add insight, ask or answer a question, or to discuss thoughts on verses. Your comment will be emailed to the user if they have comment notifications turned on.
Each month the new Church magazines can be delivered to the My Content section of your app automatically. Once you create an LDSScriptures.com account, this feature is automatically enabled and within a few minutes you should have the most recent month of Church magazines automatically in the My Content section.
To turn off automatic content delivery, log in to your account at LDSScriptures.com and make the changes in Settings.
Quickly find matches to a keyword or phrase within the scriptures using the Search feature.
To have a chapter scroll automatically from Library, double tap on the screen while reading a chapter. A hidden toolbar will appear, then tap "Auto Scroll" at the bottom left. This will hide the toolbar, and show a slider at the bottom that controls the speed. After 5 seconds this slider will disappear so you can have more space to read.
To stop auto scrolling, just tap the screen. The next time you use auto scrolling it will remember the speed you last used.
Now you can keep your journal within LDS Scriptures App. This makes it easy to add short journal entries while you are on the go, to record thoughts, impressions, events, and other things you want to remember. The Desktop application also has a Journal feature, and your entries will sync between devices.
This app makes using Footnotes simple and easy. You can explore more footnotes faster than you can imagine with print Scriptures. To view a footnote, tap on the word (it will be blue, or cream in Night mode). Any items in a footnote with a link will have a > image to the right, just tap that row to view it. If you dig deeper through several footnotes and links, a button at the top right will appear to get you quickly back to where you started.
To close the footnote panel, tap "Done".
Scripture Reminders uses Apple's Notification capability to send an alert or badge to your device, even when the app isn't open. We've created this feature as an optional way to help you remember to study the Scriptures more often! You can set how many days you want the alert for, and if that number of days passes since you last opened the app, you will get an alert to remind you to read your Scriptures.
You can change your settings at anytime from Settings > Account Settings. You can also turn off Alerts and Sounds and just get badges if you want, by going to the Settings icon, then Push Notification, on your device.
